I work in the tech industry and in my free time I make things. I am compelled to do so and always have been. I had the benefit of learning about tools and working with wood and metal from my grandfather and have a great appreciation for the craft. I predominantly work with reclaimed materials in particular recycled stuctural steel and reclaimed wood. Every piece is unique and yes every piece has inherent flaws. I am not looking for perfection. Flaws make it interesting. Other than epoxy I use non toxic finishes and solid joinery, very little in the way of glue and using friction fit methods such as mortise and tenon etc wherever possible. I also paint and apply weird and wacky finishes. I have been making the ibeam bench for well over 10 years and have used epoxy for filling voids for much longer than that. I consider the live edge slabs filled with blue epoxy and glitter like you see everywhere to be super cheesy so you won't see anything like that here.
